Round 16 Review of One Future Football

After Round 16 of One Future Football, we have new leaders. FC Angelenos are on top after dismantling Inter Nusantara 3-0 away in Indonesia. It was a stunning display by Raphael Campos’ men as they blitzed Nusantara in the first half hour of the game. Albin Dahlin opened the scoring in the 7th minute, Jae Jackson-Cook doubled the lead in the 19th and two minutes later Mateo Morales killed the game as a contest. That’s five wins in seven for La Familia who look like serious title challengers.

Angelenos’ week could not have gone better because their other closest rival at the top, Paris St-Denis, also lost. They went down 2-1 at home to Riyadh Stars in Paris. Cerqueira scored twice on either side of a Jung Sang-Min effort. That’s three games without a win for the Champions.

Club Sportivo Palermo are now on a six-game winless run after losing 4-2 to Tokyo Youth Club in Japan. Palermo were two-nil up at the break thanks to goals from Ignacio Correa and Izan Sabate, but Tokyo exploded in the second half. Goals from Ko Kato, Hiroyuki Suzuki, Leo Ramon and youngster Park Ju-Hwan turned the game on its head.

Life after Julius Martins started perfectly for Naija United as they won 3-2 against Manhattan in New York. Daniel Cezar gave Manhattan the lead in the 13th minute, but a flurry of goals from Anthony Chidi, Ojo Oladipupo and player-interim coach Charles Ogude put Naija 3-1 up at the break. Isaac Carter pulled one back in the 81st minute, but United held on for the three points.

Elsewhere, Irish teenager Liam O’Malley lit up the Koramangala Stadium in Bangalore scoring twice in Bengaluru Phoenix’s 3-0 win over Brasil Amazonia. Noah Drakenburg scored the other goal.

Finally, South London United and Bondi FC shared a point. The game finished 0-0 at the Hilly Fields Stadium.
