The Rise of Garang Tarihoran

When Bondi FC started the season, Garang Tarihoran was widely expected to be a backup player in the squad. The 18-year-old Indonesian defender from Medan, North Sumatra was picked up from the 1FF Academy due to his versatility because he can offer cover at left back, centre back, or holding midfielder.

Bondi manager Nick Stav started Tarihoran on the bench for the first three games, but an injury crisis in Round 4 saw him drafted in to start against Brasil Amazonia. Bondi won 2-0, Tarihoran was awesome and he hasn't looked back since.

The data on Tarihoran indicates a very strong season for the young defender. He's played 85% of available minutes this season, but he's played all across the backline. 47% of his games have been at centre back, but he's also played left back and recently, he's filled in for the injured Zlatko Kozbasic at right back. He has five goal contributions (2G, 3A) in the last five games.

With a pass completion rate of 81%, he has shown reliability in ball distribution, which is critical for building play from the back. His tackle completion at 58% and 25 interceptions demonstrate solid defensive skills, though there is room for improvement in tackling efficiency. His contributions to offence, with 2 goals and 12 key passes, highlight his versatility and ability to support forward play. Overall, Tarihoran's form has been very good, showing promise for further development.

The teenager has spoken about his admiration for players like Roy Keane, Gennaro Gattuso, and Giorgio Chiellini because of their quality and mentality on the field.

The Indonesian has been a real find for Stav and Bondi who will be gunning for the Season Three title over the next few weeks.
