Sushil Rao is a 27-year-old right-winger and captain of Bengaluru Phoenix. He grew up an orphan in Kolkata, India having lost both his parents at a young age. On the field, he is known for his exceptional corner-taking abilities and his amazing volleying technique. Before choosing football, Sushil had a promising career in cricket and was even considered for the Indian national team. However, he ultimately decided to pursue his true love of football. Despite being the captain and leader of the dressing room, Rao has a tendency to get nervous in big games or high-pressure situations, which sometimes affects his ability to perform at his best. He’s recently enlisted the help of a sports psychologist to help him beat his jitters. He was the first player in the squad to do so, but other players have since mentioned following suit. He lives in Indiranagar, Bangalore.
