Riyadh Stars manager Matthias Jansen and player Kostas Takas reportedly had a bust-up after the 2-1 defeat to Inter Nusantara earlier this week.
Reports from a source inside the dressing room said water bottles were thrown and Takas, who felt the manager was to blame for the defeat, had to be removed from the dressing room.
There’s history between these two as back in July, Takas vented his frustrations at his manager after a 2-0 defeat to Tokyo Youth Club in Riyadh.
The Greek winger reportedly highlighted the manager’s age and questioned whether he still has what it takes to manage players and a club at this level. The 64-year-old Jansen reportedly stayed calm throughout and didn’t punish the player in the aftermath.
That outburst was thought to have been a result of Jansen singling out Takas for criticism for his poor performance in training a few weeks earlier.
The defeat this week means The Stars are currently just outside the playoff places in 7th in One Future Football. There are four games left in the league before the finals.
