Round 17 Review of One Future Football

Round 17 of One Future Football kicked off in the Brazilian city of Manaus where Brasil Amazonia hosted Tokyo Youth Club. The home side took the lead in the 38th minute through centre-back Gustavo Carvalho and led 1-0 at half-time. Tsubasa Tanaka equalised for Tokyo in the 71st minute, but Dani Viana scored two minutes later to restore Amazonia’s lead. Guilherme Orlando killed the game in the 88th minute.

Next to Sydney, Australia where the biggest surprise of the season happened as Bondi FC demolished FC Angelenos 5-1. Bondi, who were bottom going into the game, saw teenager Ash Jones score two along with strikes from Zlatko Kozbasic, Cassiano Rodrigues and Sotiris Charitos. Adam Osei replied for Angelenos, who were top at the start of play, with a thunderous volley, but it was all about Bondi. A stunning win. 

Club Sportivo Palermo are now seven games without a win after their 2-4 home defeat to Inter Nusantara. Salvador Broglia missed a penalty in the 10th minute for the Buenos Aires side who found themselves 0-3 down at half-time. Bas Holsink opened the scoring and Juozas Butkus added a brace for Nusantara. Butkus completed his hat-trick in the 50th minute and Pablo Burgueno scored twice in four minutes to give Palermo a glimmer of hope. 

Elsewhere, Paris St-Denis beat Bengaluru Phoenix 1-0 in India to go top of the table. Riyadh Stars were beaten 1-4 by Manhattan FC in Riyadh, Luca Johnson was outstanding again for Manhattan.

Finally, Naija United continued their resurgence with a 1-0 win at home to South London United, Deji Akande’s goal in the 8th minute was enough to win it for the Nigerian club.
